An Opening Into the Forest

After we fled the ruined citadel of Uran, we travelled into the caves. We thought our pursuers would abandon the search, but they seemed to suspect where we had fled, and though they dared not enter the darkened labyrinths themselves, they waited outside. There was no escape the way we had come, so we ventured deeper into the underground passages.

Darkness was nearly complete as we felt our way through the caves with only the dim glow of a single lantern for our entire group. Three days passed, and we must have travelled many miles underground, when we saw a dim glow ahead.

Carefully we ventured towards it, unsure of what it might be. What we found was an exit to the caves, and there was much rejoyce at the sight of sunlight. We seemed to have completely lost our pursuers, but our escape from the caves was hardly the end to our ordeal that we had hoped.

A strange forest greeted us, and none of us could have even imagined the series of events that were about to unfold.
