I scatter lures of power
tied firmly to strings
Most do not see them
most do not care
but those full of greed
them I ensnare
I make them kings
at least in their minds
they strive till they think
their own power divine
but they answer to me
and my long sharp strings
for I am the kingfisher

This came to me. I felt that I wanted to write it down.
It is neither long nor complex, but I thought it an interesting twist to language.
I tried to make it dark and menacing while retaining a hint of ironic justice.
Some of the ambiguity here is deliberate.

I like the concept a lot. Despite everything, we often forget to check for a puppeteer behind the curtain.
